Kono's Restaurant's "The Surfing Pig" expanding to Kaimuki

The Surfing Pig, a new restaurant and bar by the owner of the famous Kono’s restaurant chain, is opening in the former The Edge by Tamura’s space along Waialae Avenue in the Honolulu neighborhood of Kaimuki.
The Surfing Pig, which is in the process of being registered as a trade name with state regulators, is a first for Kono’s, which does not have a bar in any of its restaurants across Oahu.
Kono’s currently has three locations on Oahu, one in Haleiwa on the North Shore, on Kapahulu Avenue near Waikiki and in Kailua on the windward side.
Its new Kaimuki space has been a revolving door of restaurants by some big-name chefs and industry veterans, including Chef Lee Anne Wong’s Hale Ohuna, Salt Kitchen, Avenue’s Bar + Eatery and The Edge.
The Surfing Pig is expected to open sometime this year. Kono's is widely known for its tasty kalua pork-filled burritos.
