Chick-fil-A’s future in Kaneohe not so certain anymore

Image
Chick-fil-A’s future in Kaneohe in Windward Oahu is not so certain anymore, as a property that the popular chicken restaurant chain once was looking to buy for its new eatery is now back on the market, Shimogawa Scoops has learned. The Atlanta-based restaurant chain still has pending building permits for the former Kaneohe Bakery property that’s located along Kamehameha Highway. It’s not clear if it will go after another site in Kaneohe or if this means that Chick-fil-A is not opening a new restaurant in Kaneohe anymore. Either way, it is scheduled to open its first restaurant on Maui with other restaurants slated for Honolulu at a former Burger King site on Beretania Street, as well as in Kapolei and at least three others in Hawaii.

The billionaire tech titan, whose net worth is more than $100 billion, could be the “secret buyer” of the one-acre estate called “Wailana Malie” for $10.5 million. The property, which includes a 3,133-square-foot, four-bedroom, 4.5 bathroom residence, won HGTV’s 2020 Ultimate House Hunt competition in the Curb Appeal category. Winston Welborn of Hawaii Life was the listing agent. He did not respond to a request for comments.  The property is located in the Kilauea area on Kauai’s North Shore, which has been a red-hot area for high-priced residential real estate transactions. The property has a total tax-assessed value of about $6.6 million. Zuckerberg has utilized San Francisco tax consultancy firm executive Tom van Loben Sels for other real estate purchases, and the tax firm ex...

Tex 808 BBQ & Brews has confirmed that it is moving from the neighboring Hawaii Kai Towne Center to the marina-facing side of the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center adjacent to Liko’s Tap & Table. Meantime, a few doors down, a new Italian restaurant called “Repetti’s Provisions” is opening in the former 1,230-square-foot Pizza Hut space that’s next to Island Brew. The new eatery filed a permit for this space this week. Repetti’s is spearheaded by the same owners as Maui’s Serpico’s Pizzeria Restaurant, where they serve authentic New Jersey-style pizza, amongst other Italian cuisine. Hawaii Kai Shopping Center, which recently re-paved its parking lot, adds solid tenants to its tenant mix, which already includes the likes of Long...
