Sylvester Stallone’s former Hawaii beachfront estate on pristine Anini Beach on the island of Kauai has been sold for $8.5 million, public records show. The 3,638-square-foot home that occupies an acre of land on Kauai’s North Shore was originally built by the “Rocky” and “Rambo” movie star for his family several decades ago. A California family trust purchased the former Stallone Kilauea property, which has a total assessed tax value of about $4.7 million. Matt Beall of Hawaii Life was the listing agent. The sale closed about a month ago. The property was originally listed for $8.8 million back in August. Stallone sold the property to the latest seller for about $1.9 million in 1996.  The “Creed” actor was once very active in the Kauai real estate market, with at least two other properties he purchased several decades ago. Stallone ended up selling these two properties several years ago including one to camera maker GoPro Inc.’s first employee, which was called the ...

Another hotel may be coming to Kapolei in West Oahu, according to public records. The new 240-room hotel project, which would include 140 rooms with kitchens and 100 rooms without kitchens, is being looked at by Alakai Development. The Honolulu-based firm filed an infrastructure application with the city on Wednesday for the hotel, which would be located in Ewa Beach as part of the Hoopili master-planned community by D.R. Horton – Schuler Homes. The new hotel would be built near Alakai’s newly-built The Element Apartments rental complex and the University of Hawaii West Oahu campus on a three-acre site. The new hotel would join other existing hotels in the area such as Embassy Suites by Hilton, Residence Inn by Marriott and Hampton Inn & Suites. Paia Fish Market opening another Oahu restaurant

Image
Paia Fish Market is expanding on Oahu with a new location in the former Boots and Kimo’s Homestyle Kitchen space in Kailua, Shimogawa Scoops has learned. The popular Maui-based eatery already has a Waikiki location along with three Valley Isle restaurants in Kihei, Lahaina and Paia. Paia Fish Market, one of the top seafood restaurants in Hawaii, was established in 1989.  Its newest location in Kailua will be located along busy Hekili Street that’s adjacent to a Target store. This new location is a smart move by Paia Fish Market, which is popular with visitors, and with Kailua’s strong tourism draw, this should be one of its top-performing eateries.   Another location could be coming soon to Oahu’s North Shore, likely in Haleiwa.

Chick-fil-A’s future in Kaneohe not so certain anymore

Image
Chick-fil-A’s future in Kaneohe in Windward Oahu is not so certain anymore, as a property that the popular chicken restaurant chain once was looking to buy for its new eatery is now back on the market, Shimogawa Scoops has learned. The Atlanta-based restaurant chain still has pending building permits for the former Kaneohe Bakery property that’s located along Kamehameha Highway. It’s not clear if it will go after another site in Kaneohe or if this means that Chick-fil-A is not opening a new restaurant in Kaneohe anymore. Either way, it is scheduled to open its first restaurant on Maui with other restaurants slated for Honolulu at a former Burger King site on Beretania Street, as well as in Kapolei and at least three others in Hawaii.
